THE NESTON CRYPT CASE

In 1996 my sister was sexually abused in Neston on the Wirral, we told the police and they uncovered a paedophile ring operating out of Neston across the Wirral.

The ring dubbed by police as “The Crypt” because of the involvement of Neston business men, said that this was a shocking case stretching back into the early 90s and made more harrowing by the fact that those involved were viewed upon in their community as respectable family men with successful local businesses.

Children were systematically groomed over a period of weeks, then finally invited to a mock children’s party, where they would be lavished with gifts providing they participated In lurid sex acts, these were devised to seem like party games to the children, the “games” would begin and the business men would enter wearing party masks to conceal their identity’s and protect themselves against prosecution.

It was the systematic abuse of children, done in such a way that those involved would remain anonymous and hidden from the gaze of the law, but a mistake was made by one of the gang who’s business card was found in one of the children’s gifts.

A police inquiry was launched where 8 men were questioned but later released due to a lack of material evidence, but the police refused to give up on the case, and using statements from the 3 main families whose children were allegedly abused by the gang, 3 men were arrested on charges of child molestation.

A court date was set for August 1997, but the case collapsed after 2 of the families refused to testify due to intimidation used by the business men involved, one family reported to the police that their house had been broken into and filled with animal excrement, seemingly the work of paid goons to cause distress before the men were due to appear at Chester magistrates.

The men who attended court with their wives and girlfriends walked free from court.

Soon after the case my family decided to move away from Neston, my sister has had therapy but still lives with the mental scars.

We still keep in touch with one of the other families involed in the case, unfortunately their son died of a drugs overdose in his teens, the family blamed the sexual abuse for his death.

Im so angry that these men are still operating their business from Neston on the Wirral, protected by their money and influence, it makes me ill thinking about the damage they have done to my sister, my family and all the nameless victims too terified to speak out against these evil perverts.
